The York Creek Volunteer Fire Department (YCVFD) began operations in 1985 and is charted as a 501(c)4, non-profit organization. We cover 69 square miles, of northern Guadalupe County, and serve approximately 10,000 citizens. The department averages 350 calls for service each year with dispatch services provided by the county's public safety access point (PSAP) located in Seguin, Texas. These range from fire response, medical first response, motor vehicle crashes, technical rescue, public assists, ect. YCVFD operates from one of its three stations located in Zorn, City of Staples and Redwood. Each station houses an engine and brush truck and the department also utilizes a command vehicle. Mutual aid is available to area departments such as Geronimo VFD, Martindale VFD, South Hays VFD, Kingsbury VFD or any agency that requests.

Members participate in training evolutions, in-house and attend area schools that are sponsored by various county, state and federal programs. Currently, a monthly business meeting is held on the second Tuesday of each month. York Creek VFD is a member of the State Fireman's and Fire Marshal's Association of Texas and participates in their training and certification program. In addition to the mentioned training opportunities, YCVFD is also a member of the Guadalupe County Firefighters Association and trains alongside, other departments, at the Associations training complex located in McQueeney, Texas.

York Creek VFD hosts an annual fundraiser, at it's station in Zorn Texas, every August. That event offers a bar-b-que meal, music, raffle and more. We are always looking for dedicated people who are willing to step-up to the challenge of the fire service and who want to serve their community. You must be 18 years of age, or older, to join.
